Coed 6's Volleyball Tournament Rules

Behavior & Conduct

  1. Each player is required to display good sportsmanship, and respect to the staff and other players at all times.
  2. Rude, aggressive, vulgar language/behavior may result in ejection from the game or tournament.

  1. All players must be 18 years old and over to play.
  2. Team rosters shall include a minimum of 6 players, including at least 3 female players.
  3. There does not have to be an equal number of male and female, but at no time can there be more than 3 men on the court.
  4. There is no LIBERO position.
  5. If a team is short players, they must consider it a ghost position and will lose their serve when the missing player's spot comes up in the serving rotation.

Matches/Warm-Up Time

  1. Games are player-reffed. If you have a disagreement about a call-replay the point. All other general volleyball rules apply unless specified differently in this rulebook.
  2. Molten Flistatec volleyballs are provided for rec division. Teams may use their own ball if both captains agree. For competitive division, please agree on a ball before the match starts.
  3. POOL PLAY: No hitting lines allowed after your first match. BRACKET PLAY: Please limit warm up times to keep things moving.

  1. Teams comprised of 3 guys and 3 girls will alternate in rotation/serving order.
  2. JUMP SERVING is not allowed in Recreational Coed 6's (unless BOTH captains agree to allow it before the match starts)
  3. You may set the serve.
  4. NO BACK ROW BLOCKERS. When your team is in a rotation with one male in the front row, you CAN NOT bring a male player from the back row to help him block.
  5. There is no 'girl rule' (a female player is not required to touch the ball during a multi-contact rally)
  6. The ball must be cleanly hit. Any part of the body may be used (except when serving, when a single hand must be used to hit the ball).
  7. Any contact with the net during a play is a violation. Please call your own violations.
  8. No crossing the center-line (under the net).
  9. Pursuit rule for safety - You are allowed to play a ball all the way up to another court. If you step onto another court before, during, or after you contact the ball, it is a DEAD BALL and point for the opposing team. The exception is if there is nobody on the adjoining court.
  10. A ball that hits the ceiling or overhead obstruction is considered live and playable on the team's own side of the net only. Walls are out of bounds.

  1. Any team not ready to play within 10 minutes of the posted start time will forfeit the match.
