Bags League Rules

Behavior & Conduct

  1. Each player is required to display good sportsmanship, and respect to the staff and other players at all times.
  2. Unsportsmanlike conduct or rude, aggressive, vulgar language/behavior may result in either ejection from the game or by being banned from the league altogether.

  1. All players must be 21 and over to play in the Hazzard County league (due to bar being 21 and over).
  2. Team rosters shall include a minimum of 2 players
  3. No gender requirement
  4. Rounds: Players may not substitute for each other during a round. Only after a round is complete may players trade out.
  5. Subs from outside the league are allowed during the regular season if a team doesn't have 2 players available. Teams may recruit 1 player from another team in the league to sub if they are short. Subs should be the appropriate skill level for that division. Competitive players cannot sub in the rec division.
  6. No new players for playoffs. For 8-week sessions, a person must play in at least 2 regular season matches with that team to be eligible for playoffs.
  7. Late Registration: a team may add players to their roster during the regular season.

  1. Teams have 75 minutes to play 5 games. For early round matches, breaks between games should be brief (1-2 minutes), unless your match is running ahead of schedule.
  2. A player must throw each cornhole bag within 10 seconds of their opponent's bag coming to rest.
  3. Games are played to 21 points. You do NOT need to win by 2. First team to reach (or exceed) 21 points wins.
  4. Teams will alternate first throw in each game. Teams may use rock, paper, scissors or spin the bag to decide who throws first for the initial game.
  5. Each game counts in the league standings.
  6. The winning team will record the score of the match at the league scoring table.

Rules of Play

  1. Cornhole rules of play are those of the American Cornhole Organization. Those rules can be found here:
  2. Players are responsible for keeping score of points in each individual round and also keeping score of rounds won.
  3. Players must throw in a timely manner as judged by the League official.
  4. Each team will stay in their designated lane. The recommended rotation for teams is to flip ends of the court for Game 2, then switch sides of the board (on the same end) for Game 3, flip ends of the court again for Game 4 and switch sides of the board again for Game 5 (this ensures that you throw from each spot on the cornhole court).

  1.  Players are allowed to bring their own bags in Intermediate and Competitive divisions (must be regulation size and weight). Starting 10-20-21, the Recreational Division must use the provided league bags.

  1. Any team not ready to play within 10 minutes of their posted start time shall forfeit the first game; 2 games after 15 minutes and the entire match after 20 minutes.
